Your pay will massively drop as B4 in Uk do not pay well

This is correct!! I worked in the U.K. and took a pay cut, trade off was to gain Int’l work experience. 100% worth the salary sacrifice, I miss the U.K. 🥲

Many similar discussions in this bowl on the same topic previously, might be worth a good weekend read through some relevant posts .. Also will be helpful if your question is a bit more specific - like what insight are you after - general lifestyle (healthcare, rental information, areas to live in, things to do etc) and in career advice what area you work in and what grade will be helpful to know ..

But in general, from personal opinion -
1. Better work life balance and more holidays in UK
2. Depending on where in US you are from and the area you work in, a pay cut is most likely (£ to $ and free healthcare driving it besides the general better professional services pay in US) but compare PWC UK with US and see what grade/pay band is appropriate for your experience so you know what to target for
3. Look out for benefits and bonus % in your salary negotiations - like private medical insurance etc beyond NHS
3. Not sure what insights you want but from a lifestyle switch pov but highly recommend getting a good grip on expected expenses for a similar UK equivalent lifestyle so you know what salary you want to target
4. For your area of experience, identify what companies do good work in UK and target them .. look beyond big 4 as there are many niche nicer companies to work for

Exactly, what designation have you been offered at the UK firm?

There are many posts in the group which answers your question. It all depends on your current situation and what you are after. Ex: if you are on H1B and looking for peace of mind and other important intangibles the UK wins hands down but there are so many other factors.

I made the move from PwC US to UK 3 years ago and don’t regret it one second. Great holidays, work life balance and easier access to Europe. Might want to move back to US at some point though due to better economy and access to jobs in the US.

- Just started exploring SF Trailhead, specifically an SF Admin trail.

- Basically, I’m lost. I feel like I’m playing checkers while others are playing chess.

If you have experience working through a career change (in your early 30s) as you break into tech, I’d appreciate any tips.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

I’m thinking of treating myself to a watch to celebrate some recent successes, and have narrowed it down to either a Datejust 36 with the blue sunburst dial and stick markers or a white dial Daytona. A friend of mine, who is something of a whale, can get me the Daytona at list with no issues. However, I’m concerned the Daytona makes too much of a statement and will bring unwanted attention in a way the DJ would not. What are your thoughts?

Question about bonuses in industry:

Recently applied for a role and was told along the way there was a bonus of 25-40%. Received an offer confirming the details with the same bonus range. Accepted the offer.

When I received the contract, the bonus was “discretional, capped at 40%”

I queried this and was told this was their standard terms and it would not be changed to include the minimum bonus.

Is it true this is standard practice to not include a minimum for the bonus range?

Hey peeps,

Received an offer to join industry in London and would love to hear your thoughts.

Was at McK for 2 years in Germany (just promoted to Associate, 2 years to EM).

Offer is for a retailer (think clothing). GBP 100k base, GBP 125k TC. Role would be in the strategy department. No team leadership role (drawback vs. EM'ing at McK).

Any thoughts/ experiences on:
- moving from DE to London coming from consulting into industry?
- is the offer good? QoL with 100k in London?

Thanks!
