I'd only really consider a top 10 MBA program given the investment
@EY2 there's a really powerful alumni network in my area for one of the programs. The issue with going to a top 20 program is there are very few online options and I'm going to still work while getting it. And the only universities in my area aren't top 20. The cost of the programs I'm looking at pales in comparison to the cost for a top 20 program (40k total instead of 120+). And my firm offers some tuition reimbursement. I'm also looking at an MS in MIS, but the management courses offered by an MBA are appealing too.
The IT mgmt one is lower ranked but offers classes more suited to my career path (I'd like to be a Director or VP, maybe even CIO). The general leadership/management one is higher ranked but won't provide the specialized courses I feel I could really use.
Agreed.. top 20 at least to make it worth it. However, check the alumni networks in your area. Sometimes going to a less prestigious program with a powerful alumni network could be a good decision
Unc and Indiana both have online programs and are top programs. If you are looking to stay in the same area, going with the program with the strongest alumni network in the area is a solid decision if it's decently ranked.
