I’m in the IT field, I’ve worked as a Network Admin for 4 years Tech Support Specialist for 2 years and am currently a IT Specialist (contractor) it’s been around 6 mo, could anyone tell me is there a way to figure out what I should be making (like where should I be in the pay scale) I’ve managed teams and little projects here and there but I am wondering what should be my next position that I go after and what I should be asking for my current position when they offer me something.

What are you making right now? Do you live in a high cost of living area? Look at job listings in your area and field—how much are similar jobs offering?

I did all of those roles at one point in my life and topped out at $48k/year cash then. I also lived in a low cost of living area and my job had fixed salary so there wasn’t room for negotiation.

That sounds frustrating! What does your scope of support look like right now? What kind of things do you enjoy doing?

I haven’t negotiated job offer before and trying to help my spouse with an offer in healthcare and would love your advice: she told them upfront her range was 75-80k and they said that was fine, and she was offered 72k. Even on Glassdoor, the average salary for her position at this company is 75k. Additionally, she has to pay her old company 5k to leave. How should she make the case for both a salary raise to 75-80k and a $5k sign on?

Need some advice. I am a 1st year analyst at a boutique and am really enjoying it so far. However in the future, I do want to do something more tech-y, but I am not sure of what options are available. Ideally would love a business ops/strategy role in a biotech/health tech firm. Has anyone exited to such companies? If so, which firm and what did you do to prepare? Any advice appreciated!

Feeling at a stand still. I was doing assistant work before my recruiting coordinator gig but now feel stagnant. Work for a start up, and although i'm expected to always go outside of my role, it's coming up on a year and there's no promotion in sight. Was told it takes 1.5-2 years to grow out of the recruiting coordinator function. I don't know how much more scheduling I can handle, it's like a soul sucking responsibility after a while. Any advice on how to move out of the RC role?
