I’m interviewing at a few places but finding a pattern that salaries are offering lower than my expectations because of covid.

Would you take the job (good reputation, career trajectory) with low pay (<50K)

Or wait it out?

Also any advice on negotiation would help immensely.

Not worried about bills or anything but have some student loans I can manage.

Low pay is low. I would keep looking while on your current salary.

like

Depending on norms for place you’re applying for: Negotiate by asking for what you would accept to switch jobs. And definitely value yourself higher than your existing salary. You can also try to negotiate compensation through benefits: student loan assistance as, a higher signing bonus if applicable.

How many yoe

Ya I mean there are a lot of coordinator positions in tech companies just apply to like 20 see what happens

How much lower was this then your prior post of the real question...

My starting out salary as an assistant at a major media agency was 35k. I made closer to 43 because of all the overtime. Less than a year I was making 50k and now I just got a new job and I make 55k. I have a little less than 2 years experience, so it is possible to make more than 50k, just job hop. Also people doing data analytics and digital who work at the same level make more since it’s more specialized.

Thoughts on becoming a "Growth & New Initiatives PM"?

I was a regular PM managing my own vertical and now have the opportunity for a new role in the org. No promo or cash related, just jurisdiction wise.

I'd be focusing on:
For old product-
-Free Trial
-automation
For new product-
-Building out from scratch
-UI/UX related user feedback
-sales and marketing focus
-use cases and features

Is this a good move career wise? Love being a PM and looking to grow.

Where can I start learning about retirement in America? I’m naive on the topic and originally from another country so I need reliable learning resources. I’m 31 and don’t have anything yet, except 6months in emergency fund and I started traditional 401k a few months ago, but can’t max it out currently as I make less than $70k right and single, so I’m currently putting 6% on a targeted retirement age portfolio.

Do people tend to age out of wanting to FIRE?

In your 20s-30s, you don’t know much, you’re told what to do, you have few financial resources so you are tied to your job. Under these circumstances it makes perfect sense why you would want to FIRE asap.

But eventually you advance up the ladder, you are now the boss and your people do all the grunt work. You also have built up expertise which makes the job easier. And you are making the best money of your life. FIRE is no longer so pressing.

I’m curious how much other people with similar incomes save/invest a year; I’m a 24M, making 70K a year in a HCOL city. My rent isn’t too pricey, but I went on 3 vacations, go out to the bars frequently, and spend pretty freely on food. Anyone care to share their income and corresponding savings for FIRE?

I have a lot of student debt from law school. I’ve refinanced a couple of times and received the best fixed rate available, but I’ve seen others refinance with a variable rate which of course is lower. I’ve read some other comments of people refinancing at a super low variable rate....isn’t this risky? Of course I am afraid of going variable and then the interest rates going up a lot.
