I’m interviewing for a Project Manager role and they want me to present a project I’ve worked on showing my thought process and how I tackle problems like managing cross-functional teams, creating/adapting processes, managing tasks and priorities, etc. It can be in any format and will be to a panel. I’ve never done an interview like this before. Any tips?

Use ppt - have a strong introduction for yourself and have other intro themselves too.. you want it interactive. No one likes a boring presenter who talks the entire time. Second slide should be an agenda.. don’t add too many words. Have screens shots and colors. Measure your business impact - % increase in producing, sales figures, etc.. leave time for questions and be mindful of the time. Most importantly.. ask for next steps and have questions for them!

Thanks for such specific advice! I don’t work with numbers very much so it might be harder to measure business impact. I’ll look for different quantifiers.

Give an example of a project in the past (or a part of the project) and show a slide (PowerPoint) with the problem, how you tackled it, and the result

I currently work for a SaaS startup that does internal and client features for a single software product and am interviewing for a brand and product design studio/agency that works on client projects.

Do you think it’s better to explain how I formed the startup’s project management process or focus on a specific project (like a feature build)?

How are the paralegals in your department organized/structured? What are the pros and cons? We’re exploring the idea of a paralegal center of excellence. Currently paralegals are reporting to the lawyers they support. The disadvantages are that the paralegals are siloed, so there’s no back-up if they’re out and they don’t have anyone who can support them if their work gets too busy. Additionally, the lawyers have a hard time accurately evaluating them since they can’t easily compare their work.
