I’m interviewing for an MBB now and came across this article. Are individual rates really along the lines of 1.5-2K an hour (assuming 5 days a week for 8 hours)? This baffles me, only because my current rate is way lower.

Oh no, an article trying to tarnish McKinsey? Never seen one of those before
Google the GSA issue with McK and you’ll get a sense of the rates. They don’t have hourly, rather weekly, and the assumption is that it’s 50+ hrs/week.
But back to the point of the article, because of the urgency of the response, the government agencies didn’t go thru normal procurement processes and utilized special authorities. It was all legal; the effectiveness is another matter entirely.
my firm’s rates are $2.5k to 5.5k a day for consultants But partner rates are only ~8k a day (and they obviously make more than 2-3x in take home.
That to say 2.5k yes but that’s inflated because what the actual partner rates should be are instead baked into the consultants rates
Yes
Nah C1- we only record 7 hours a day/ 35 hours a week
