What program are you looking into?
I’ve been looking into Wealth and Investment and Strategic Programs/Change Management, though I have managerial experience and risk management, so I’m trying to broaden my scope as necessary.
I'm sure there are. While new grads are often the target of these types of programs because they're already in that frame of mind, plenty of opportunities exist for new-ish professionals to pursue professional development. Here's an article about Cigna's programs that may be helpful: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/cignas-development-programs-early-career-finance-can-help-evanko/
Why not just try and go for an internship? That will give you real-world, on-the-job training and experience, plus you can network and also make a little money while you're at it.
That’s what I’ve been trying to pursue! I’ve been speaking with a recruiter at one company, but they’re looking for recent grads or those still in school. 🤦♂️
This is tough. I know a lot of companies that just hire recent graduates. If you took a job in your first year but decided to switch to an entry-level one, a company won't take you because the program is designed for recent graduates. Then you would have to compete with people with 2+4 years of direct experience.
Right! That’s where I’m at — I took an entry level thing. Unfortunately my college did not provide this kind of information at the time I left. So frustrating.
Yes. But if you want to join a program, you might find it hard to switch companies/roles. I agree with the comment above suggesting an internship.
