I'm kind of sick of every small thing becoming a feedback discussion. I don't think my manager is remotely motivating or helpful, especially when the mistakes are theirs as well.

Managers should be expected to lead. Leadership involves inspiring those under them, building mutual trust with team members, and utilizing team member strengths. There should be a higher leadership standard when it comes to being a 'manager'. Perhaps this stems from lack of experience or training. Keep your head up and take it as a lesson for when it's your time.

like

Sounds like a bad manager, just smile and nod and avoid working with them again

like

Worst is they always make themselves look good at our expense.

like

^ I wish that were true. I've seen lousy leadership climb on others and make it all the way.

like

Lousy leadership is partly the firms fault and its partly the mgrs fault. I see so many people in a rush to get promoted. If they dont get promoted...they are ready to jump firms in 3.2 seconds. Individuals have to take personal responsibility yo seek out the opportunities that will make you a better leader in the long run...sometimes that move means that you will take 1-2 years longer to get promoted. I wonder how many people would take the longer road.

like

But back to your problem. Ill let you know a secret...we know who the shitty mgrs are. Dont worry they won't get the nod and at some point somebody will point out that they need to improve their current leadership skills

Lack of experience in management? You don't say :-)! Yup, this sad state seems to have pervaded all over. What was it Shakespeare said? "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and sme have greatness thrust upon them." But in order to succeed, a true leader needs to be well prepped to receive and act on the greatness when it is thrust upon them. Like Henry V, people are best led by leaders that have walked among his/her soldiers to find words and emotion to inspire and evoke purpose and passion. This kind of leader is becoming rare species.

Hmmm.....why are there so many small things?

Because they didn't communicate downward that things had changed in the last 10 hours. I couldn't have known. Wasn't on the threads.

I have yet to have a good manager

I am in a single income family with a small army of children. We have enough medical bills from chronic meds and random happenings that we just do the plans that have the smallest deductible(out of pocket) due to risk of large medical bills. Therefore I do not do the HSA because I don't have the high deductible plan. Should I rethink that? Help me think through this.

Are there any Partner firms that will not be requiring vaccination for employment? Deloitte implemented mandatory vaccination requirement for return to office with no health exemption mention.
