I’m leaving agency life to go in-house. Any advice on 1. What to expect and 2. How I can best show my value immediately?

Congrats OP.

Prepare yourself for culture shock. Politics is rewarded over work. From management’s POV there is no incentive to push the envelope, merely to do exactly as well as their predecessor did. On a positive note though, better work/ life balance and pay.

I have never done freelance work and was given the opportunity to take part in a cool project. My problem is it’s a proactive case by a brand new agency and it’s their own project, meaning there’s no client who pays for the work. For them it’s PR for their new business, but I think they’re expecting me to work completely pro bono. It does have potential for a great case and I’d love to have it in my portfolio, but is it reasonable for them not to compensate me? Any tips on how to approach this?
