I'm leaving Deloitte to start a new consulting firm with an old friend. The problem is the client he wants to staff me on also has a SOW w/ Deloitte. Am I legally aloud? Can I research this anywhere?

Probably not "aloud." Call compliance.

I don't know your legal volume. However, if you have never signed a non-compete, you're good. But you will burn all bridges.

Ha yeah I was trying to save characters- couldn't that set off an alert to leadership?

Ask for a copy of your employment contract and talk to your lawyer

What level are you? Typically you don't sign a non-compete below senior manager. As far as burning bridges, it will be quickly forgotten.

PC1 non competes are manager and above at Uncle D

Could be an issue Legally it is usually unenforceable but likely D put it into their client contract which would limit your staffing opportunities

OP, if you're in California, it's definitely unenforceable

Thanks to those who gave serious responses! I really appreciate it as this is important to me. Looks like I've got some research to do..

I am moving geographies and so in a bit of dilemma. The hiring manager reached out for a consultant level role, a level down from my current title. She said the Sr. con role just filled up so either I could interview for consultant level position or wait for a few months when Sr. Consultant positions opens up. I have limited client facing experience since I went from backend to front end and also opportunity to move to desired geography. Not sure how to tackle this smartly. Any thoughts?

Throughout my career, I have worked at both “traditional” and “digital” shops. My current agency would fall under traditional but also offers digital services. Our process, roles and skillsets seem way outdated but I wasn’t sure if it was just my opinion or if this is just how it works. For example, we have no CTO or tech leads. Our digital producers feel more like project managers than actual producers. Account Management is just traditional, no real digital knowledge. Feels layered and dated.

Hi EY and Fishes everywhere! I might be getting an offer to join tax as an S1 (or exp. assoc), probably not being able to start until mid August based off how the process has been. However, I currently work at a mid size firm and we’re already getting into busy season. How would it look if I asked EY to postpone my start date till after 10/15 and say that I’m not ready to be thrown into a Big 4 busy season and that I don’t want to leave my current firm out to dry. Thank you all so much! @EY

Currently at FAANG in a Client Solutions role. I’ve been here for 6 months, have the opportunity to potentially transition to BizOps or Product (in title, work is more implementation focused) in 6 months. Just got a Sales Strategy offer for a tech company but not FAANG. I like the team, pay is equal, and it’s remote with monthly travel. Scared of burning FAANG bridge with potential move out but also dislike my role because I hate sales and want to do strategy work. Thoughts?
