I’m looking at transactional in house roles for hedge funds and a PE style fund. Hedge funds would likely incorporate more general “keep the lights on” work as well. Does anyone have a view on which general path (HF v. PE) has a higher ceiling comp-wise? At this level they are comparable but not sure if in 10 years they will diverge.

I work at a fund but don’t feel qualified to answer this question. Maybe try to find an executive recruiter who has done GC placements at HF and PE funds and knows the game a bit at the higher levels?

Got it. Appreciate the feedback!

My options are either go for masters or go for another bachelors in IT/computer science. What could be my other options? Thank you.

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

I’ve been interviewing at numerous places in-house but the process has been very slow. I have an offer from a small law shop which aligns with everything I want but comp is low end of in-house (and not on the radar for law firms at all). If I make it to last round in-house interviews, what are the chances I’ll get the offer? Also, how can I ask the law firm to wait to see how the in-house interviews pan out? Or do I tell the in-house companies I have an offer already? Thanks.

Any advice for ending a relationship with outside counsel? I hired a large firm for ad-hoc help with a certain topic a few years ago but they've just been OK (they're aware of the issues). I've used them for 1-2 quick questions over the last few months while I found a new, more local and specialized firm. I never worked for a large law firm, so I don't know what the etiquette is.
