Im looking for a new job since the location where im at isn’t ideal. I just graduated college so i’ve had a lot of options for location but not so much on salary. Most salaries are much lower than where im at now (~20k loss). Should i stay with this company for the experience or leave as soon as i find something else? im not sure how salary negotiate works since im a recent grad but if there’s anyone who had a similar experience please lmk!

Why isn’t the location you’re at ideal? Can you stick it out and move internally? Can the other companies at least match your current salary? Taking a cut off I’ll require moves later to get back to where you are which may not be easy to do. But happiness matters too. Pro/con list!

I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!

How do people save for a down payment on a house? My SO and I make a combined 130k salary, currently rent a 1br apt for $2250/mo, have other debts of 600/mo and 15k in savings. Neither of us have been able to save much since we started to rent the apt (6 months ago). I want to stop "wasting" money on rent and build equity in a home, lay down roots, start a family, but I feel I/we will never be able to save enough for a down payment (NY prices, 400-500k). Starting to feel hopeless &stretched thin

I've been working here for about two years now, and I have to say, I love my job. The company culture is great and the people are wonderful to work with. But recently, I've noticed that my manager has been asking me to do more and more work on my own without giving me any additional compensation for my time. He just keeps telling me that if I want to get ahead, then this is what I need to do.

I'm not sure what to do here—do you have any advice?

I’ve recently been diagnosed with ADHD. It’s all very new to me still and my doctor keeps pushing me to go on meds. Does anyone else here struggle with ADHD? How are you able to manage it in the workplace? Did you end up going on meds for it and that helps? Or did you take a non-medicated route? I really don’t want to take drugs if I don’t have to so hearing your personal experiences would be really helpful! Thanks in advance.

I work as an Associate at a VC fund. I started working at the company almost a year ago. We recently looked to hire another associate for the fund. I ran the search and we found a candidate we liked and then I found out that the other candidate got offered $15K more than what I am making.

For context, I am the only non-parter on the investment team so there is no one else to compare myself to.
