I’m looking for some advice on how to transition out of audit. I’m interested in moving into more outsourced CFO/controller type roles. I don’t want to go straight industry. Any advice on a path? I’m currently at a top 50 firm without a strong advisory practice, so an internal transfer isn’t an option.

Dang KPMG is only top 50 now?

Lol. I’m not at kpmg. I left about 3 years ago. I’m not sure why this hasn’t updated.

Biased but Deloitte has a growing Controllership practice in Advisory that you may want to look into

Call out your MD for forcing you to eat time?

There are plenty of firms that specialize in outsource CFO roles. But that will take you into administrator territory so just be careful and make sure that’s not where you end up if that’s not what you want.

Can you elaborate? I would like to be a CFO, but it sounds like you are talking about something else that I’m missing here?

I don’t know your firm but I’m moving into consulting now which will also serve those types of roles. I’ve been asking the partner to get on their team for two years. They called out of the blue with an opening. Just speak up as to what you want and don’t stop speaking up.

Some success, now what? I started a solo practice July 2020. I’ve been successful in building a book of business sufficient to satisfy my overhead and provide me with a respectable income. I want to grow my practice somehow, but I’m stuck at figuring out how. I do mainly corporate transactional work and some litigation. Any advice?

Hi Fishes,
I'm currently working for a fintech firm as SQL Developer which has got me into a toxic working culture(zero support from colleges) with no learnings so far.

Although, I'm from a Commerce domain..I wanted to move into Data Analytics so I learned SQL and Tableau on my own to get myself better Data Analytic job opportunities to build my career in.

However, without any live projects and hands on experience on the tool, I could only learn a few things about these two mentioned tools. So

How did you guys know you wanted to stay in HR?

Would anyone happen to have any insight on base comp ranges for internal Lateral Attorney Recruiting Managers? Particularly for firms between 250-500 attorneys? I love my current firm, and have 5 years of experience within lateral associate, counsel and partner recruiting; but, considering how much money I save the firm with each non-search-firm attorney placement, I feel like there is higher compensation opportunity elsewhere. Thank you!
