I’m looking to hire an accountant / tax advisor to help with filing extensions and K1s - does anyone have a sense for how much this should cost on an annual basis?

Depends on how many states you need to file in, and how many K1’s you have.

Do you just have a W2 and the K1’s? If so, that’s pretty simple. If you have some direct real estate properties that you own and/or side businesses, that’s when the price starts to go up.

Pretty much just W2 and 2 K1s, along with investment account income, but should be pretty straight forward. Do you have any general estimate ranges?

I’d be shocked if you were charged over $1k. $500 to $750 for a W2 and a pair of K1’s is probably about right.

Can someone help me understand how backdoor Roth works in my situation?

I contribute the $19.5K max to a 401K each year. Would backdoor Roth be (A) the ability to roll $6K of that $19.5K into a Roth? or (B) an incremental $6K that I could contribute to a separate IRA then backdoor into a Roth?

Asked another way, does backdoor Roth allow me to actually contribute $25.5K each year, or does it just allow $6K of my $19.5K contribution to build in a Roth?

Thanks!

Hi fishes, I have a question. If you are investing in stocks or mutual funds and also LIC from India and get an opportunity to work abroad, what changes need to be done to the bank account from which the amount is being deducted monthly automatically for these investments. Is it okay to send money to this account wherein money will continue to be debited or do I need to link these investments to an NRI account, which I think can only be opened after min 6 months spend abroad right? TIA!

This is how taxes work: you pay a specific $ amount in tax based on ALL of your income, this is compared to what your employer withheld. If your employer withheld too much, you get a refund. This isn’t a good thing, it means the government had your money all year. If your employer didn’t withhold enough, you have to pay the balance. This doesn’t mean you got screwed.

Newer to the game compared to many of you, trying to decide if splitting 401k contribution between traditional and Roth is worth it.
Let’s assume I am not in a higher income tax bracket at retirement (current base is 100). Is it still worth it to split contributions between Roth or traditional (6% trad to get match, rest would be Roth)? Some different proportion split? TIA.
