I am a field marketer. I travel and cover 12 states. HQ is across the US on the east coast. My manager put a surprise calendar invite twice now to go to home office without consulting dates to see if we were available. I stood up and asked to be included on available dates and said I will attend virtually but asking me to be away for 4 additional full days away from my family without asking me is not OK. I already travel a lot and this boundary is super important to me. Am I right or wrong?

I wanted to get people's opinions on leetcode, codewars etc when prepping for interviews. I am a junior full stack dev looking to move to a better paying junior role or a mid role and honestly these style of questions have always stumped me. Just got an interview call for Telecom consultant role in Infosys.

HR asked for video interview and I dont mind that. I replied the HR that panel also puts on their web cam. It's not a healthy way to communicate during inteview when panel remains on audio (and perhaps in their shorts and baniyan ) :D

The partner I work for covers all depositions and doesn’t let me do any unless she absolutely can’t cover because of her schedule. I would like to take depositions and it would be great experience for me but she keeps it all for herself because it’s great billable. It’s so frustrating.

Watched the Chris Watts documentary and couldn’t get over the multi-leveling marketing aspect. Sat there asking myself how someone can invest thousands of dollars they don’t have into a BS business that’s ultimately a scam with no guarantee of actually making money, as if I didn’t basically do the same thing and as if I’m not sitting on $200k of law school debt.

Is it reasonable to be expected to spend 20-30 non-billable hours a month checking your paralegal’s work? (i.e. summarizing hundreds of records and bills). The partner said he “didn’t use paralegals” at his previous firm and eating the time is an “investment in yourself.” Is this common?

I had an interview with a firm today and they asked about my billable hours and whether I met them. I said no, but that other associates in my very small group have the same issue, and that we all have around the same number of hours. As the hiring firm, would you be satisfied or concerned with this answer?

I just had a performance review at a biglaw firm. It was my first review since I lateraled from a small firm in my 6th year of practice. The review was very positive and the panel went through all the comments left by the partner reviewers, except one. One partner said: “showed he is able to perform at the level of a partner.” He’s the only partner to have said that. Anything to read into based upon the way this comment was ignored? Do they worry I’ll get presumptuous if they acknowledge it?
