Are you sure you will get the paid maternity benefits? Some places do give this automatically / at day 1, but many employers make it so you can only take paid leave after 1 year of tenure. If you are already pregnant that timing likely won’t work for you. I recommend getting explicit confirmation to be sure.
What type of job freelancing??

Did you compare the health care coverages? If you’re in the US there are some plans on the free market that are ~ similar in cost and coverage.
Either way if you can work two jobs as long as you can, that’s a good plan. Plus look at the paid maternity leave

It would depend on how much your take home is for the freelance gig and what the trajectory is from a long term perspective. If you can continue to make 20k/month on freelance in general and are savvy with your deductions (as there are many ways to be), the freelance may make more sense. I would break out the ole’ excel and look over a 3 year period calculating savings on healthcare vs marketplace, 401k benefits, bonus structure etc. against your current pay and however long your maternity leave coverage is. If you have a spouse/partner involved, I would also look at their trajectory to see if there is a potential for you to be on their plan at some point or for them to switch to a job that has good benefits assuming you’re the bread winner purely on salary.
Thank you. I guess my next step is to do the work you mentioned, thanks, this really helps.
Same points as above - also can you get on your spouse’s health insurance plan instead?
