What is the typical WLB for a PM at FAANG?
Which is a better product role to exit to tech industry + for career progression? I will move to Austin, TX end of this year where I want to join a tech company (in product analytics, payments, ecommerce)
1. Product Owner at Morningstar (product configuration for new companies + occasional new feature to the product. Product: investment data analytics for B2B)
2. Senior Product Manager at a boutique consulting firm (product: payments, ecommerce)
Background: 6 yrs as PM at boutique consulting

You are gonna be a center piece in either of those roles and people will be looking to you for answers early and often. If I had to pick I’d say product management because you are dealing frequently with engineering teams versus marketing is closer to clients imo
Current PM switched from consulting. There are times where I do data analysis but that is about 10% of my job. Most of the time is spent working with other people. Doing interviews and then explaining requirements to dev/testing. Im in meetings, half the day and I get pinged constantly for requests from biz or needing to explain something to tech. For introverts look into data science or analysis.
