Ageism laid bare. This is the sad reality of the business. Agency leaders who linger into their 60s, who have completely dismissed the value of their contemporaries to keep themselves afloat. Shame on you Mark Read.

A law like this couldn't even be enforced. A company could just put a uselessly broad salary range up for any role.

In some ways, it’s backwards. As we move to more fluid work spaces and flexible work days, it’s simply not a 9-5 workday any more. There’s a lot of good about that and definitely some challenges.
Should people be contacting their teams at night? No. But some of those people need the ability to catch up on correspondence and check things off their list. It shouldn’t be a law that states people don’t have to respond. It should be a corporate culture that respects boundaries.
With people in demand, it’s a competitive advantage for forward thinking organizations that invest in culture. The good people will flock to those organizations that invest in a trusting and respectful culture. And the agencies who don’t will see people leave.
I agree with the sentiment but do you really want Doug Ford, a man who has no clue how to build companies (but can inherit them) in your boardroom? I don’t.
Cultures that don’t respect boundaries will experience much higher attrition rates. I think it’s the expectation that is really the issue rather than the function of sending of emails / messages at all hours. Delay send and notification muting on slack/teams/outlook should be a reflex everyone has now.
I think another issue here is organizations that continue to try and recreate the 9-5 workday at home. Progressive orgs seem to really be pushing the message of ‘work anywhere at anytime’ on LinkedIn… unfortunately my company still adheres to traditional business hours which is seriously pushing me to make a move.
