I’ve been here (Buckhead) for 3+ years and haven’t experienced any of that. It’s pretty safe but then again I don’t be in the mix
Agreed
It’s insanely overblown. There’s crime in every big city. Just stay north of downtown and you’re good.
I agree. It all depends where you move. I unfollowed them a long time ago.
ATLScoop just makes you more aware of stuff going on. That’s the entire point of the account. I’m sure if there was a DCScoop you’d see some wild stuff.
That being said, I’m not a fan of the page because I think it makes people feel things are less safe than they are.
It’s extremely dangerous here. Wouldn’t recommend leaving DC

Just gotta be careful I think nyc and DC could be worse
Lol! ATL scoop is only here to provide negative news and awareness of things. There is a lot of good in ATL i moved here from NYC and love it!

Atlanta technically has a lot of crime but that’s because there’s often 5+ million ppl in the city limits - daily (not including tourists) which is home to less than 700k ppl. So “Atlanta” has a crime rate that’s not reflective of its true population. Same with myrtle beach - it’s technically one of the most dangerous places in the country because people refuse to factor in tourism. You have to remember - most people who “live in Atlanta” do not actually live in the city itself.
Rule of thumb is stay north of I-20. Seriously you will be fine. Most of the crime here is people doing illegal things hurting other people that do illegal things. You will know if you are in a bad area. I moved here from Denver…which has literally no crime and I’m fine lol. The only difference is there is a part of ATL where you just don’t want to be. However, you will immediately know if you’re close to that area so don’t even trip.

What do you suggest would be a more accurate statement?
Atlscoop puts it right in front of your face but honestly just pick a neighborhood away from downtown and you should be fine. More question for Atlanta is why are there so many car fires and cars flipped over. I have yet to see one but it feels like it’s a common occurrence.
It was deadass the first thing I noticed when I moved here from Michigan.
The page is accurate. They post things that occur in Atlanta. But I think the negative things are highlighted more frequently. Yes, there is crime. Yes, it’s still great place to live.
Grew up in the northern suburbs. Lived in Buckhead from 2019 to last year and now live in Vinings. It’s so overblown lol. Every city has crime. People aren’t getting robbed in broad daylight like in Manhattan. Just don’t be dumb.
I’m a skinny Jewish guy who moved from NYC down here. Love it! The negative news is overblown. If a nerdy, unimposing, guy like me can make it you should be able to as well.
Live in the burbs. Almost no crime where I live and I love the area. Atlanta is beautiful (at least the suburbs are), don’t let the bad parts of town sway you.
Plenty of places ITP that fit that bill as well.
I moved from DC to ATL and I can’t wait to move back to DC. I hate it here. Good luck
I moved from DC to ATL and like it here more than I thought I would! Still planning to move back to DC at some point but ATL has its upsides :)

Coming from ATL to DC, I would say it’s not dangerous as ATLScoop describes it in their stories. Sure, there is a lot of crazy things, but that’s only a focused vision of the bigger scenery. There are definitely things to do safely and socially in ATL.
Its a city so no different than other major cities and the problems associated. It’s surprisingly small compared to other major cities. In 10 minutes (not counting the crazy traffic) you hit dozens of suburbs and picket fences.
I just moved here from DC a few months ago and had the same reservations...im currently having one of the best summers I've had in quite a while and find the city really lively and a more relaxed change of pace from DC. And honestly the social scene has more to offer than DC imo. The North part of Atlanta has been really great and I've seen minimal to be concerned abt..Downtown is sketchy tho.

Socially better?

I moved here from NOVA. It’s not that bad. It just seems worse because they only report on crazy things.
Sorry, to clarify, I lived in DC but moved out during the pandemic. In Dallas Texas now but already accepted a job in ATL. Was hoping for some reassurance crime isn’t a total shit show like how ATLScoop makes it seem 😂 might’ve been wishful thinking on my part though
That page is racist and primarily promotes black crime. It's run by a white girl in Buckhead trying to feel better about herself.
Every major city has crime. Be smart and you'll be fine.
I mean it’s accurate but it’s a spread out city and in all likelihood not gonna affect you on a day to day basis. Lived here my whole life and don’t have problems. I mean sure there’s some more crime but it’s also more visible because of the account. Just be don’t be dumb and leave a laptop or anything like that in your car when you park places
