It depends on what state and whether or not you're in a rural area. Generally speaking, large city's prefer RTs to be registered. I'm only a CRT and mostly worked rural hospitals, but was able to snag a travel contract in the largest city in my state in one of the larger facilities as well. I'm somewhat done with RT as I've made the transition to a cath lab.
I really want to start, I miss clinical work and getting my hands busy on being respiratory therapist, I was thinking I’ll take that job and once I become an RRT I’ll join a hospital
I think it depends on where you are looking to work. If you can snag a travel contract, this would definitely be a good gig. I would check the locations you would like to work and apply there. Going to an area with limited people with your position will also help you get paid more.
It's not advised to travel as a new grad RT as it's assumed that a traveler will have experience managing vents, interpreting lab values and be able to manage vents independently without n much guidance from physicians.
