I’m new to Kirkland & Ellis (corporate group) and have planned a two-week trip to Europe for my honey moon in June 2022. How realistic is it that I’ll be fully off work and no one will bother me? Any specific way you recommend I handle this? I don’t know enough associates to have them help me cover my deals while I’m out.

That’s like… a year from now. You’ll meet people in the next 10 months.

Don’t ask permission. Just do it.

Echo this x infinity. Send the reminders and then go enjoy your honeymoon without looking at your email. I took 3 weeks off for mine.

Tell your teams about 6 months in advance. Then do a 2 month reminder, 1 month reminder, and 1 week reminder. Make sure they know it's your honeymoon and you will not be available. Source: I am a second year in K&E litigation and took my honeymoon this year. Congratulations!

This. Life is too short and your seniors will find someone to transition in.

Just leave your computer at home and mute your emails. Easy and no stress! (I plan to do this for my honeymoon, they’ll figure it out without us 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Is it normal for you to ever be “ghosted” by your administration? I feel like I’m constantly emailing, calling, texting, and meeting with them and nothing gets done. As soon as I leave their office, I’m ignored. If I email/text them a question or request, I’m ignored unless it benefits them. This is at a district where I travel between 3 schools and have 3 principals. They’re all like this and communication is especially important since I have to travel.
