They probably don’t have enough forces to cause a real disruption and would rather heavily fortify the city. It would be nice if they had the air superiority the US does because UAV and Bombing runs could wreck the Russians convoy but they’re extremely outgunned at this point. Speaks to their bravery they know there is no winning without NATO forces no matter how many weapons we send them but they won’t roll over

Ukraine lacks air superiority; also principles of defense assume you can defend against outsized offensive formations approximately 3:1 or greater, so theoretically more logical for them to entrench and wait for this Russian column.
Interesting. I understand they can defend the city more favorably then going against Russia in open combat but my thinking in seeing the convoy just seemed like Russia's path could also easily be challenged and disrupted using booby traps bombs etc. Russia not really caring for a defensive seemed like an opportunity. I guess Ukraine is probably already doing all of this but continue to be outnumbered
"Why don't they just stop them?" is effectively what you're asking. I'm sure if it were that easy, they'd do it.
Easier to fight an armored unit in a city you're familiar with than in an open field.

They actually are trying to stop them. Numerous videos of ukranian drones hitting russian convoys have surfaced. The issue is, Ukranians dont have enough resources to do more runs.

They are waiting for them to get to the city, much much easier to battle armor in tight confined city streets, it’s where tanks and other armor struggle.
As someone else said, it’s modern 300, draw them into ambush positions and pounce, repeat over and over again. It’s going to get really, really ugly, a modern day Stalingrad.

My thinking is similar though the convoy is going in a traceable path. Why wait for them to get to the city and surround it
Convoy is too tightly compressed. Likely inexperienced troops. Even small disruptions like demolition of the road and cutting down roadside trees, oil or tire fires, etc. would slow them down quite a bit.
Agreed they have done more resisting than anyone expected and are brave beyond belief.
I agree, IED that entire road with car-sized devices... if Timothy McVeigh can do it, so can a military. Activate with burner phones if needed.

Ukraine doesn't have the air superiority to take out the convoy. The few planes they might be able to muster would get taken out with anti-aircraft weaponry
If the UN weren’t so scared they’d bomb tf out of that 3 mile convoy.
C2 if you want to do some quick math on the destructive power we're talking about unleashing, google the US Ohio-class submarines. Then multiply the number of those active by the number of nuclear missiles they can carry, and finally, the yield for each of those missiles with standard warheads.
It's enough to destroy the major cities of every developed country in the world. And that's just the US's subs lol that's not even air launched or ground based...or even other countries' nukes.
