That timestamp 🤮
This is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves. Do not ask me to ping you when I am available. Send me your questions/requests do not ask me to come to you looking for something YOU NEED.
I used to have this boss that would text me to say "call me." NO. You need something? you f**kn call me, and I will answer if I have the time.
Better yet just send an email/Teams message. Then you have record of whatever it was you were asking for in case someone forgets you can go back and look, AND it is less distracting for me.
Many people dont have basic email/chat communication skills and it shows. I recall back in university, we had an entire course about Business Communication. I used to think it was a stupid course but in reality, its far from that.
Emails/chats like these should be flagged with HR and as flags are accumulated, a communication workshop should be launched for those particular teams/regions to help master the art of effective communication.
Yeah I work in a global company and chat more than email. Everyone works different hours. I sent chat messages all the time at odd hours to them. I just start the chat with, I know it’s an odd time but I don’t want to forget my question for you. When you’re back at work can you tell me… no one seems to mind this approach.
Was your boss drunk and looking to meet up?
You’re a software engineer. Business is different.
dude, why are you posting my message to you? not cool.
You don’t log on until 10am?
I also don’t login until 10AM, my team is all across time zones so it’s not a problem. I come to client meetings if they want me earlier but if they don’t, I’ll be there at 10am.
This is like having a conversation with someone and then them asking you to send them an email with the details on what you discussed. It’s lazy, I hate others do it; and really hate when I catch myself doing it.
…send your traffic, don’t task me to tell you when I’m free
Sorry but I always ask for a confirmation email if there are action items. Otherwise, things will absolutely get dropped.
Am I being dumb or what’s wrong with this message, besides the time stamp of course?
Copywriter - Agree. Yet very unlikely at 1 am someone is following up. Thats for OP to clarify.
