Get a jump rope and use it for 10min 3-5x a week. There are a lot of exercises online to ease your way into it. It's great cardio and tones your whole body.

Ease yourself in, otherwise you’ll end up with shin splints; also good to use a mat under your feet to reduce the impact. If you’re looking for some tips and inspiration, have a look at Lauren.jumps on Instagram - she literally started skipping like April 2020!

I do MadFit workouts on YouTube. Plenty of great beginner stuff on her channel! There’s also Pilates studios doing streaming classes that only require a yoga mat! Tennis is great. Playing ball with your dog if you have one is great. Do some squats here and there throughout your day. I keep it simple but weave it through my lifestyle.

I just looked at her channel, appreciate the amount of beginner and apartment-safe workouts she has - looks great! I definitely struggle to find online workouts that work for me. Also have never tried Pilates so will look for that too! Would do tennis if I had anyone who’d play with me, I’ve tried, and my cat isn’t so into playing ball... Overall this is really excellent advice, thank you! I think I’ve thought myself into a box with regard to getting moving so your mindset is much better.

If you don't want to invest in weights, resistance bands are a good alternative. I've seen lots of workouts on Instagram.

Honestly I am a big fan of and have had great success in getting in good shape with yoga alone! Have you checked out Yoga With Adriene on YouTube? I love how calming her practices are - and she definitely has ones that give me a burn. She has hundreds of videos online to choose from, all free. She also offers a monthly playlist so you can have a community to go along with if you prefer that to solo practicing :) I’ve really trimmed down and sculpted some muscle with yoga alone :) Hope this helps some!!

I have heard of her channel but have never given it a try, but I definitely will! I’ve always wanted to try yoga and this is probably the best way for my extremely awkward inflexible self! Thanks for the suggestion!!

I started using the Obé app! Lots of fun and lots of workouts you can do even without equipment. I have a couple of sets of dumbbells for some of the workouts which were not expensive at all! They also recommend beginner classes so you don’t feel like you’re dying as much. The community on Facebook is also very supportive!

Never heard of it, so I will definitely check it out! I absolutely need beginner classes, it’s hard enough to get myself going at all.... so the community sounds like a great perk! Thanks!

I stumbled on beginner low impact cardio/HIIT workouts by Team Body Project about a year ago and I love them so much. At the beginning they were very difficult and i could barely make it through one, but the instructor Daniel is so encouraging (in a cheesy but not cringe way). I did the workouts during lunchtime for a few months and easily got in the best shape of my life. I had to stop due to a knee injury (from running) but I’m starting to get back into it and remembering why I love them so much.

I only did Kayla Itsenes (sp?) BBG (bikini body guide) during law school. A friend paid for the program on her phone and we both used it, but it’s available on PDF circulating online for free. It’s 28-minute workouts with very little equipment you can do at home.

Found it https://www.refinery29.com/file/13888/ki-bbg-beginner-refinery29-clean-slate-week-1.pdf

Barre 3 has great 30 minute online workouts that combine stretching, yoga, and strength training just using body weight. I’ve been doing them 3-4 times per week since the quarantine and I’m SO much stronger and feel a lot better. I also just bought a hydrow to change up the barre workouts and love that too. Full body workout in 20 mins.

See if you can find some adjustable weights. They don't take up a ton of space and don't cost near the amount of a full set. I found some secondhand in my area for under $200. Resistance bands are also great and are pretty cheap on Amazon. Pair that with some of the suggested apps and courses above and have fun!

Peloton app is free for a few months for new users. They have tons of work outs that don’t use any equipment.

Overworked mom of two young kids and I’ve come to the realization that I have very few friends who live nearby. I’m the only one of my close circle who didn’t head to suburbs after kids and WFH has made me aware of how reliant I was on work friends for a social outlet. I’ve still got great friends I can call for anything but, really missing having girlfriends I can just meet up without planning a month in advance. Does anyone else feel like this pandemic has helped level out the playing field between working moms and everyone else? Although the beginning of the pandemic was a nightmare with no access to childcare, continuing to be able to work from home has provided me with the opportunity to advance my career, where I could not before because of the time constraints of my commute and getting home to relieve my childcare. Am I alone in feeling this way?
