I did it myself and it isn't very complicated. Forms and list of documents on the US consulate website. If I remember correctly, two things are important - 1. finances to show all expenses pertaining to their trip can be handled by themselves or by you 2. proof that parents have ties to home country and will return at the end of their stay and not decide to stay back in US (home/property/business in India, other children or relatives, a job in India or something that shows ties to India)
Yes they would need to have a B1/B2 visa from India, irrespective of your visa status. If you don’t know anything about sponsoring, I would suggest tell your parents to hire an agent and they would do everything for your parents. Usually charge ~1500 INR per person
Path2USA has detailed steps. You should be able to do it yourself. On L1, I got visitor visa until my visa was valid (instead of standard 10 yrs)
