Im one of the few traveling people on my project. SO gets jealous when I have dinner with team members of the opposite sex. How do I explain that it's normal in consulting?

I'm going to be harsh, but your SO is way too insecure and if it were me, it would be a big enough red flag that I'd be out the door. I know that wasnt the question you asked - but its one you should be thinking about. Either they trust you or they dont. If they trust you and still jealous, how is this an issue? Are you allowed to have friends of the opposite sex? Work late in a teamroom alone? Fly to a conference? Sorry for the rant - but you should think more about the underlying issue than how to make your SO understand that its normal. Good luck.

OP, your Bf is not insecure about the dinners, he's insecure about the opportunity you have to fu*k around. While you could potentially cheat while you're local but the chances of getting caught are higher. However on the road it is so easy to get away with it. It all boils down to what does he think if your character. I'll not jump to a conclusion here but I disagree with P1 and A1. The problem could lie not only with him but with you or how he perceives you. Understand his issue and try to work it out. Any relationship takes a lot if work to be successful, just like your career.

D2 I appreciate your perspective, gives me something to think about.

Thanks for the input PwC, I acknowledge the insecurity but wanted to be understanding. I was asking how to help him understand because he's still in school and hasn't had a "professional" job yet. And the travel is new to him too. Like, if I was working a normal non-travel job, I would probably go home and hang out with friends, but it's different when you're on the road in a new town and the only people you know are your team mates.

Second what P1 says. OP this is not a good sign. Get out! You have nothing you need to explain.

Op- I have been in your shoes. And what P1 says is ON POINT! I wasted my prime years thinking I could change this person and failed miserably because you can never change people. This is a sight of immaturity and insecurity.

Hi ladies. I have always struggled with low confidence and imposter syndrome at work. Although the feedback from leadership has consistently been that I am a top performer - I struggle with voicing my opinion and taking the lead on client calls. I’d hoped that working my behind off would make up for it, but I was turned down for a promotion for the second time and feel absolutely gutted. I hate that I am a good worker bee but do not exhibit the leadership competencies - appreciate any advice ❤️

How do you all keep up your skills if your job is boring and you are not learning much? I have an MBA & PMP, so mostly fall into program/project management consulting roles in healthcare (my industry).

But most of the work is basically 'babysitting' others while managing Microsoft Teams, Project, Excel, and PPT. I have decent soft skills but I feel like anyone can do my job.

Note: MBA is non-top 30. I also have a CPA (never licensed). I feel like someone like me should be doing much more!
