Man, you can just be honest from your end. How the manager takes it is on them. You can say that your family responsibilities have increased and your current salary is not fulfilling it. You have pending loans, family health etc to take care so you are moving out for a better pay.
People are assholes and if your manager is one of them, who cares. I believe that's the only genuine fake reason you can give in a very polite manner
Well idk how you knew but pending loan is actually the main reason for my need of a better package. Around 2 months back, I showed some other offers in my current org and got a 70% hike to match previous offers, now I have another offer which is almost 80% more than my CCTC. Even I think that being honest will be the way to go, but I feel like my manager might get irritated as I had agreed to stay before, but now just after 2 months, I am again asking to leave. I want to avoid having that conversation as I'm sure my current org can't match this offer.
Let's say your manager gets 70% hike from another company. Will he still stay in your stupid company?
Let's say you don't perform very well in next 2 months. Will they still not complain about your performance and pay you salary with a big smile ?
If your company can have expectations. Then you also can have expectations. If your company wants talent, then they'll pay up. If not they'll lose good people like you. It's just business, your company is not your family. Don't get your feelings involved
This is so well said! This was my first company and I can't help but involve feelings a little, but I have come to realise that its all about business. Nobody truly cares about you.. Your words are very encouraging.. Thanks a lot for inspiring me!! I feel way more confident now. 💪🏻

Don't give any reason and simply say that I am getting a good offer outside. If you can match ok, otherwise I am resigning.
Manager is not paying from his pocket. Its not necessary to mention you personal reasons or anything for salay increase.
If you want and company is not able to fulfill just tell them clearly, if they increase stay othervise use that offer to get beter opportunities.
I agree with you that no manager pays from their pockets, but the problem is that they act like they do😅
Being honest is the best policy and be vocal of your expectations.
So that if you don't want to disappoint your Manager then he would understand your expectations equally and respect your choices

Did you get the dream company?
No, the offer is not from my dream company, but the ctc is acceptable and meets my expectations. I'll keep trying to get a better offer though 🙂
Put yourself in the manager shoes and think if anyone does the same what you will think? You got retained with 70% hike only 2months back and now you want to leave so it suggest one think you are greed for money. Sorry for being harsh but whatever you do you can't cover up this. Accept yourself the way you are and believe me u can't keep the bridge with your manager because you are breaking the trust here.
U won't get any😁 ppl r not fool. Better to tell him the truth so that u vl atleast get some respect left from him
