Congrats! I think you are safe to ask about keeping Kaiser. That's a standard inquiry. As for paid leave, you might want to bundle that in with other questions if you aren't ready to disclose the pregnancy on day one.

helpful

Oh boy! I wouldn't necessarily discuss the pregnancy yet. Treat it as you would with friends. Hopefully more folks can weigh in about the rest but you can always fudge the dates that you discovered the news :)

And that's amazing btw. I'm really excited for you.

How did it go??

And I just learned that maternity leave is 14-16 weeks (good) but the company does not supplement CA SDI for hires with <1 year tenure so it’d be basically 75% unpaid ugh

Congratulations! I would highly recommend not disclosing this information during the interview. For one you don’t really know what will happen and for two, your benefits will be fully explained to you during the offer process. One thing you should consider is the minimum amount of time required before going on maternity leave...some companies have a one year requirement before going on Mat leave but again this can sometimes be flexible and should be discussed with your hiring manager...If you are in a situation where you’d need to take mat leave before the minimum required time, I’d suggest bringing this up before you accept the offer but not before an offer is made :-)

Thank you for reading! I will likely be taking maternity leave in 9 months (just found out). So if I take this job I will only be eligible for 14 weeks unpaid. Thoughts on how to address this now that I have the offer and benefits book in hand?

How can I become more “okay” with being an average performer? I’m two years out of school and have been considered a high performer so far, but it’s taken a toll on my mental health and I feel anxious most days. I’ve realized that the cost of being a high performer outweighs the benefits, and am trying to loosen up and be more comfortable with coasting on occasion... I’m what people may consider an insecure overachiever. Has anybody here ever had the same feeling?
