I sat down with my dr a few years ago to learn my specific risks for things. I’m adopted and don’t have family history so I was always afraid. He helped me compare risks to the other everyday risks I was used to like flying, driving in a car, stress, not sleeping, etc. When the pandemic hit, I was more prepared because I understood what medical risks were.

Really low (day 1 of my periods) andI’ve been stressing today on things that are outside my control. Have my birthday coming up, and i’ll be 35 soon. No bf, no man, no marriage in sight. The clock is ticking, more so as i have large uterine fibroids, so not just my parents, even my gynec wants me to hurry up. Have been alone cooped up at home for more than a year now with no end in sight thanks to COVID. Dating is bust too. So all in all really lonely. Any words of encouragement?

My husband of five years is an alcoholic. We have tried therapy and rehab but he refuses to admit he even has a problem. I just found alcohol stashed away in the apartment again. It's taken an immense toll on my health and mental wellbeing as well as managing work with all this going on is a nightmare. Has anyone been through similar?! Is there hope? I've known him 10 years and it's an awful long commitment to just throw away. Any flexibility with your workplace you can recommend, or an alternative work schedule?! Want to move away for a few months to clear my head. Any kind of advice is appreciated.

I dont necessarily fit in this bucket and wished I had known the information you all have at your fingertips. I believe my picture would be totally different. I'm 60+ and will retire in the next yr. I think it is great that you all are doing well even for the perceived late starters. I started seriously saving in my early 50s. Over that time I have 2 mortgages no other debt and a nice nest egg. Curious though, how are you all going to cover medical in early retirement?

Has anyone taken Wellbutrin and experienced side effects? I’m 3 weeks into trying it out, and it’s worked better and faster than my prior antidepressants. But this week I’ve started experiencing pretty nasty dizziness/vertigo, which came on suddenly Monday morning. I don’t know if it’s just the latest physical symptom of burnout (which has been making me sick a lot lately) or if I’m experiencing some kind of side effect from the new meds.

After a year in public accounting, I’m thinking this ain’t it for me. When we were in the office and on site at clients it was amazing, but I have been doing all my audit work from home since March and feel like I haven’t learned anything, and every day is miserable. I have one CPA exam section left and I honestly just want to collect my $5k bonus and bail. Do you think they would try to recollect that money if I were to do that? Things could change, but I’m looking at this possibility.

If you’re planning to leave one big 4 for another and also switch from one service line to another, is it worth asking your current company to make the internal transfer happen instead? It’s something I just recently started looking into and I didn’t mention a word of it on my annual review just recently. It would 100% come out of left field and I almost feel like they would at a minimum want me to do another busy season in audit before making it happen. Almost feel like a clean break is easier.

Hope everyone had a good start of the week! I have a quick question regarding MBB referal. I’ve been working for almost a year at a life sciences consulting firm with a PhD in STEM. Recently I've been considering to move to MBB due to project types, team dynamics, client interaction, etc. I've talked to friends in McKinsey and bcg (former case partners), they are very willing to refer me but they are relative new. And they recommend me to network with partners to get better chance.
