Date another consultant
Why does being single immediately regulate us to being cynical? I happen to love this life... for now.
I sleep with other consultants. There's plenty to talk about.
Dating another consultant really helps, especially when you both pick up a project in the same city. Me and my boyfriend even sometimes take the same flight. I joke about this being my most normal relationship yet. Plus... 2x the points for flights and hotels.... 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Married. 2 years. Yes it's tough, but as trite as it sounds all the time away does make you value time with your partner that much more.
Married going on 3 years.. no kids.. Consulting works - especially when you're an introvert, sometimes M-Th. can work on your side.
Married 5 years. You have to abandon the notion of a traditional marriage and my wife is very capable of making friends independent of me
Married one year and used all my SPG points to honeymoon in Bali...
It takes a lot of work and mostly dedicating uninterrupted time with each other. Don't watch Netflix - talk. When you go out to dinner once a week - turn your phone on airplane mode or leave it at home. Simply - prioritize meaningful communication with each other and the rest will fall into place. The weeks we don't do it - we both notice.
It also really depends on the projects you end up on. I've experienced a HUGE variation in work life balance and how often I'm away during my 2.5 years
Not married myself, but Father has worked in Consulting for 20+ years. If I've learned anything watching my family, it's that my mother says his travel keeps her sane. I guess it keeps things fresh?
Or better yet, date a consultant in ANOTHER city and flex together on the weekend~
Def single and cynical and loving EVERY SECOND
I'm the latter.
Married as an associate. 3 years strong. Use your points for family vacations and weekends away. In lieu of is a beautiful thing.
Single and loving it... "Sorry [girl I don't like anymore]... Next project is in Riyadh"
