Don’t let others define you. You got to take care of yourself. You know when you need to switch on or off to recharge. Use your PTO days and take some afternoons or Fridays off if needed.

OP, i know it’s easier said than done to shift the mentality since we’re also in a highly competitive work environment. Every now and then just remember that you made the firm $$$ and there’s life outside the firm. No need to slave away and mentally exhaust yourself. Your career’s a marathon.

I knew i wanted to leave and needed time off to recover mentally before actively job hunting (and could afford to take an extended period of unpaid leave) so i just quit, recovered for ~2 months, and then started slowly job hunting. I know i was in a very privileged position to do that (I had a lot of savings), but if you can, i highly highly recommend it. No one will think twice about a break in employment during pandemic times (or otherwise, as long as you have a reasonable reason - and i think burnout from consulting in a pandemic is an INCREDIBLY understandable reason)🤷🏻‍♀️ Of note, My situation was also slightly different bc mck gives “search” time (i.e., paid time off purely to job hunt once you declare that you’re leaving), but i only start actively job hunting after i was fully recovered

Bro/gal, it’s ok to ask for time off. I was in your shoes recently. I was so burnt out and couldn’t care less. That feeling negatively affected everything I did, both project work and firm initiatives. At that point, you’re not doing yourself or your team any favor. So before you get there, take time off and recharge. Everybody I talked to was very supportive of me taking time off. Our leadership is more understanding than what we thought they were. Feel free to DM if you want to chat more.

Hey fishes, I recently joined Deloitte USI Consulting after 1 year of work experience at a boutique consulting post MBA from a Tier 1 institute. In spite of my work experience, I am treated as a Y0 consultant, and the pay seems as per the same level, and I feel like I have been lowballed. What is the typical CTC that new joiners are getting at the Consultant position post MBA from Tier 1 (IIM A,B,C,L,I,K) who are joining laterally?

Need advice regarding time off. TL;DR: just found out younger sibling is being admitted to hospital due to mental health issues. Situation still unfolding. Do I inform my team/take time off to support family? Context: I am a new hire (<6 months) and just joined a new project last week. On top of this, another sibling (kindergarten) is doing school from home this week due to COVID exposure. Needless to say, my mom is a mess & has hands full. Is it appropriate to take last minute time off?

Do you think the workplace just isn’t too accepting of sexual orientation for always assume the gender roles or am I just completely overthinking this?
