Talk to your career advisor first I'd say - more likely than not we have something somewhere that you will like!
Do TAS
TAS is currently interviewing audit rotators. It’s a more analytical role for sure but not ad forward-looking as you would in forecasting or budgeting for a Company internally in a FP&A role.
Our bread and butter is performing monthly trend analysis on the P&L and BS to ensure there’s no adjustments (i.e. any one-time, nonoperating, or out-of-period events). This is where you actually start to understand financial analysis of multiple industries. Audit - You’re verifying, based on a threshold, if you’re materially misstated. Everything you do is about documentation. That being said, TAS will look at support for adjustments to make sure they’re accurate (usually an Assoc/Sr job).
TAC is hiring at RSM! Hit me up with questions!
Hey, to whoever messaged me with TAC questions. I accidentally ignored your message and I can’t get it back. Feel free to DM again. That’s my bad
What level are you? Keep in mind that most entry level positions have boring work no matter what you do. The new people often get the boring stuff no one else wants.
Yeah…but as you get to the senior and manager level you really do have to somewhat enjoy audit because you have more audit work, longer hours, and more stress.
If u like RSM, i really think you should talk to ur CA or someone you connect with in Mgt role. I recently felt same way.. spoke with my CA who literally got the ball rolling and now I am in a position which i love! It is very important that you talk with someone who knows their way around RSM and can guide you. I can say after the all hands, they want to retain people and would do anything to keep u
I'm in FAO and we're hiring too. Would love to get some transfers from audit.
Finance & Accounting Outsourcing. Technically we're over technology consulting. It's a good mix of accounting and tech, which is why audit people can do well here. It's more steady-state and predictable than other lines with major busy seasons, and we get to build long-term relationships with clients.
Have you checked careers page to see what positions have open reqs? I prefer internal transfers over new hires but definitely requires coordinating. Best of luck!!
If interested, I can refer you to kpmg consulting. Let me know!
What other service lines are in your office. Maybe your CA can introduce you to managers in various lines so you can get an idea of what they do on a day in and day out basis.
You’re lucky you even have an assigned workspace. To use your words, many of our offices are nomad offices now. It’s a free for all. I’ve been in the office for 3 weeks and it’s definitely an adjustment. Can’t anyways connect, A/C isn’t working right, no coffee….But IT is definitely backlogged so yeah, generally agreed that the soft open is going to take awhile.
I love how kpmg1 has infiltrated the RSM bowl and for every complaint offers to refer the OP to KpMG consulting. Savage move, and also genius. Lmk if I can refer you to RSM consulting. 😏
