Raise chat! I am approaching 1 year with my company and am unsure of how to approach my CEO when asking for a raise. When I first came on, I was given a 5% raise after 3 months. I was promoted at 5 months but just in title, and a lot of responsibility. I believe I am long overdue for a salary increase and the overall cost of living is insane. I would like to ask for something closer to 15% but I’m not sure if that’s appropriate. Any advise?

Hi all! I’m an engineer working in the global health space and I’m finding it’s a small, small pool. I also just found out that a new hire (male, also an engineer) is the reason I got a raise after ~5 years of stagnancy. I love my job, but it’s time to move on. Anyone who’s worked in nonprofit spaces - did you stay? Did you switch to consulting/government/etc or go corporate? I’ve been applying without much response, and I’m debating whether a PMP very or masters is going to be necessary.

How should I think about savings especially as layoffs may be happening more?

- pre MBA teaching/non profit career (no savings)
- 45k student debt
- salary is 7k /month take home
- cost of living( rent, food, etc): 3000 / month (the rest has been going to debt)
Should i keep a savings account and not pay debt ? Get LOC ? Safe investments? Anything else ?

I just took a new job and the OTE is less than agreed to after going through the comp plan. Also the recruiter told me 50% of people were hitting their quota and no one was less than 70% last year. However I found out the last 6 months everyone is less than 10%. I know get that recruiters can mislead with performance metrics but giving the wrong OTE seems super unethical to me. Has anyone had this happen?

OFFER: 65k with good benefits
EXPERIENCE: 1 year SEO, 3 years data analyst
COUNTER-OFFER: 87k same benefits
REASON 1: programming skills which I use on the job (SQL, R, Google Apps Script). Aka I do more than SEO.
REASON 2: I’ve received multiple other offers for data analyst jobs paying 85k-100k
