I’m confused...
Why don’t you introduce yourself in the email? Instead of sending an email to request a meeting to introduce yourself?
Is promotion your end goal? If so, why are you asking a partner you’ve never met vs talking to and solidifying the support from the partners you currently work with? They’ll be in a better position to support your promotion efforts imo.
Just my two cents. Feel like I’m missing something here.
Based on conversations with the PPMDs I work with and recently promoted senior mgrs., many folks up for promotion do a round of introduction/gather support from national leaders. Supposed to help you at year end when your case is being discussed.
I think your plan is good. Only thing I would say is to keep in mind that key to promotions is what sets you apart from your peers. Everyone else up for promotion to Senior Manager already has the same thing as you on paper. Telling her what you bring to the table and asking her about what you can participate in is good. That will give you a blueprint on paper. But canned questions will result in canned answers. In other words, chances are pretty good that she’s been asked this plenty of times and has a standard response or set of responses based on background. You will likely end up getting the same response as everyone else who has gone in ready for a promotion. Go beyond that and talk about why you are reaching out to HER (vs. others). Not saying you need to be fake and suck up to her, but you can ask her for specifics around her experience (even if you already know indirectly).
I like your approach. I think having both an ‘ask’ and an ‘offer’ for how you can help them is great to start. E.g. ask: I’d love your advice on XX particular topic (mentoring ask). Also in same conversation, ‘I see you are leading xx initiative (inclusion role? Office role, recruiting, publishing?), is there any help that I could give you to give us the opportunity to work together?’ I love getting new people involved with some of my side initiatives/responsibilities.
