I'm seriously burning out here at Deloitte. 15 hour workdays and being told to do firm initiatives on top of that because it's my promo year. I just don't think I can or want to continue in this toxic place anymore. I think it's time to leave, after I collect my bonus 🤔

You’re lucky you get your bonus soon. My bonus payout is in September and I’m not sure my mental health can handle sticking around any longer. I can only hope if and when a job offer comes, I can make up for that lost of a bonus through a nice signing bonus

like

@D7: I’m not with Deloitte and our FY ends in July, so there’s a 2 month gap between end of FY and when bonuses are finalized and paid out

15 hour days regularly on your project? That is a problem. Switch projects. I strive for great WLB for all the teams I lead, DM me if interested.

This isn’t investment banking. You’re not pulling 75 hour weeks without reasons beyond workload. Efficiency, procrastination, prioritization, delegation etc sounds like the real problems you need to tackle.

If you’re planning to leave after you get your bonus - see what you can let slip. Think of it this way- who cares about your next scatterplot in Oct if you’re going to be gone by then? I know it’s uncomfortable for high achievers to purposely achieve lower, but it’ll save your mental health. (Source: my current strategy)

I got a call for a Java position. I told them I do not develop in Java. I do JavaScript with React. He says “oh yes, that is what the client wants”. So I sent my resume. When he sent the confirmation email it stated Angular/Java. I told him that I don’t have much Java skills. He then sent this (pic) as a response. 🤔🤔🤔
When I spoke to the client she had no idea why the recruiter added angular react as it was just a Java developer position, Completely wasted so much time

I think part of the problem may be because we are located in a mid-sized city rather than a major metro area.
