I usually advise people to step out on their own but if you’re not familiar with patents, I wouldn’t try patent litigation.
You could try finding someone willing to be co-counsel but also mentor you through the case. Would have to be someone open minded and of course you'd be looking at a fee split as well.
Join your local bar association’s sub group for this specialty and attend an event/reach out to someone on the list of this specialty. Alternatively- join networking groups and find someone there, or if large enough, ask people in your own network.
Get a mentor. Learn the area. Don’t let people tell you not to step out of your area of expertise. Lawyers need to be flexible. Caveat- don’t do it if you can’t learn it- obviously.
