“Diversity" has ALWAYS meant that. 🤷🏽♂️
SM1 I’m going to need you to consider intersectionality in the call for diversity. LGBTQ people can also be “plain blacks" -Gay Black Consultant 🙃
White women, Indians, lgbtq. Never plain blacks. We are a by product or after thought.
And don’t forget gay white men. They contribute to corporate diversity too 🙄
This is nothing new. The number one beneficiary of affirmative action, which I would argue is a sibling of corporate diversity, is white women.
It’s interesting that accenture is currently using diversity initiatives as a means to have discussions with the c-suite and then hoping to leverage the relationships to get projects
It’s all focused on women and lgbt and how we are helping other clients.....then all of our marketing materials have a ton of black people in the photos while we have less than 1% black or Hispanic in senior / MD roles
Anytime you start holding people accountable and start calling out facts.....leadership cleans house and brings in a few new black folks in leadership positions and the cycle of no change at the top continues
To be honest, I think it’s more pervasive than just corporate culture. My wife is in the process of applying to business school. She’s actually applying to my business school. The one that I graduated from. One that is supposedly “so cool” for being ranked so high in so many rankings blah blah... because apparently that matters. The admissions team from said institution sent out an internal email to alumni a few weeks ago boasting about the increasingly diverse group of mba candidates in the current class. I’ve received that same email for the past five years since I graduated. And every year I look deeper into those same numbers and see that the percentage of women in the MBA program has increased (which I’m all for) while the number of Butts-in-seats remains the same. And the percentage of candidates who identify as LGBTQ has increased (which I support, too), again, while the number of Butts in seats remains the same. But, the number minority mba candidates remains exactly where it was 5 years ago when I graduated. And 7 years ago when I applied. No delta to whatsoever. I see this first hand when go back on campus to help with recruiting. On campus, yes there are more women, which is great. But, they’re all white women. And, yes, there are more candidates who identify as LGBTQ. But, again they’re all white. No deltas. I just think it’s a point that should be addressed. I’ll leave it there.
Deloitte is doing the same. Best believe.
The blacks that were leading diversity at accenture were let go last year
SM1 I get that you believe you intended for no disrespect. But for the lack of intersectionality in your post to be pointed out and you still follow it up with “still stand by my point” comes across as if you see it but just don’t care, which is a shame 😒
This
Was in a national service line update with video cameras and could count us on two hands. Across the nation! 🤦🏾♂️
C1. No disrespect meant 🤷🏿♂️. I get the intersectionality. Still stand by my point.
Where is the lie?
Absolutely agree
Extremely unfortunate! Lol
It’s like the argument for diversity is evolving away from the core demographic that needs it
