I'm sitting on ~50k in cash and am about to sell my home, which should net me another 150k or so. With the recent market correction and recession, what do folks think are the best ways to 5x / 10x my money in the next 5 years? Crypto? Stocks (which)? RE? Buying and turning around a business? I know nobody knows the future, but I feel like the downturn presents some unique opportunities, just not sure what all the possibilities are. I'd say my risk tolerance is med/med-high.

That's 40% annualized ROI to 5x, good luck

You would need to straight up gamble to make 5x -10x in such a short time frame. Just buy indexes and/or real estate and let it ride.

If you still insist on gambling for 5x - 10x, you'd need to trade options or choose the right crypto alt coin. But this is also a great way to lose everything.

You can’t lose money playing craps. I turned $20 into $200 in a couple of hours. 10x right there. Would’ve done it with $200k but felt bad stealing the casino’s money like that

There is a market correction every 2 years on average. This is not a unique opportunity. We had a similar unique opportunity in 2020. We also had one in 2018. I would be willing to bet you have many more unique opportunities. This one may be deeper and may last longer, but it is not unique. I personally am just buying the same ETFs that I always do when I get paid.

You should probably build something, like a business, if you’re after that level of gain in your life. It’s not going to come from your personal investments though.

Aim to create a proportional amount of value in the world, and if you succeed hopefully the market will reward you for it.

Buy 5 acres of land and subdivide into 10 lots. Build a duplex on one and live in half. Build another duplex as quick as you can (try for 2 years or less), repeat last line.

AD1 - no investment is without risk. I’d bet on rental real estate over the market or crypto. Duplex properties are more stable than single family homes. Plus you own physical assets, you can put as much or as little sweat equity as you want, there are tax benefits. When you build you limit maintenance and know what you have. People will always want high quality, new construction duplex’s. People move up into them and down into them.

Beware with crypto as many crypto companies are currently defaulting since many of their investments were in risky assets like Luna. I would put a percentage in easier 2-4x funds like $VOO or $QQQ & the other percentage in riskier individual growth stocks you believe in/research in

Also I’d like to mention that many big companies have not recovered from the last recession stock market crash and there will be losers that will not potentially ever reach its 52 week high

Has anyone tried both online TD ameritrade brokerage and JPMorgan brokerage? If so, can you share some pros and cons of both? FYI, I don’t do day trade and most of my investments are ETFs and hold for long term.

Would ideally like to keep as one optically to avoid having to ‘spend more time in the manger role’… as I’ve been doing that role for a year now and keen to move on!
