I’m so over the cross-examination at CVS every time I have to fill a prescription. Are you really trying to play doctor right now????

I use CVS and have never had them question my meds other than their standard “do you have any questions about your medication?”

You might ask them why they question you every time you come in to fill this script. See what they say.

switch pharmacies! my pharmacy never asks any questions!

Switch to a local mom & pop pharmacy if you can. They are 1000% better. My pharmacy automatically refills my Adderall and calls me to tell me it’s ready for pick up (my doctor can submit 3 scripts/90 days total in my state). My husband goes to a different local pharmacy and they never give him a hard time about whether it’s been 28 or 29 or 30 days since he filled his last script. Chain pharmacies are the absolute worst with ADHD meds!!

Additional Posts in Lawyers with ADHD

Not sure if this is an ADHD symptom or a form of avoidance that’s specific to me but since I’ve started working, I feel physically incapable of keeping up with my friendships and relationships, like the bandwidth is completely gone. I never felt this way in law school/ever before but now I’m going ages without responding to texts and I’m starting to really see some strong friendships fall to the wayside. The thing is if I had anything to give, I would!

The short: Would anyone be up for starting regular virtual co-working sessions? I’m thinking 2-3 rounds of [5 mins to set intentions : 45 mins of work : 10 min break]. The long: One technique I’ve found to stay focused is “body doubling,” i.e., having another person present while you’re working. I’ve had some success replicating this over Zoom/Google Meet. Everyone works on their own thing and stays muted during work blocks, but videos stay on. It reminds me of studying in the library vs at home

I’m a 9th year in Big Law and have been struggling to get much work done the last 1.5 months. Mentioned this to my doctor at my recent visit, and she offered to increase my Vyvanse dosage, but I told her I wanted to see if it got better soon. I’m wondering now if it’s burnout. Anyone else experience burnout and see a decrease in the effectiveness of your meds, and if so, how did you overcome it?

Billable hour question: is anyone else just completely incapable of keeping up with your time? I’ve been an attorney for 3 years now and tried everything I can think of to figure this out but I just can’t do it. It’s the same thing at the end of every month - staying up late entering in an entire month of time. Luckily most clients I work for are flat fee/percentage based but I still feel like a failure for not being able to do this thing that seemingly every other lawyer can do. Any tips?

I just learned about rejection sensitive dysphoria. It describes that feeling of severe emotional pain tied to rejection or failure. And it is associated with ADHD. This explains so much about me and how I approach the world and my job. This feels like important information although I don’t know how to use it yet.

Another billing question, this one for the litigators: what are your go-to narratives for all of the time that gets sucked up by dealing with emails on super active cases? But can’t figure out. Flow state only comes when I’m backed against a wall. Currently on medication. Any other tips?

My job (biglaw, finance, midlevel) is a poor fit overall — both in the adhd sense and more broadly in that it doesn’t really play to my strengths. I am also your usual high achieving people pleaser (such a common species in this job). The combination of all of the above means I am unhappily slogging uphill to be a B/B+ associate in a job that doesn’t interest me in the least. I am planning to make a change in the spring. If what I wrote resonates, are you happier in-house? Any other thoughts?

I was diagnosed with ADHD in the first grade along with dyslexia and dysgraphia. I’m also positive that I should have been diagnosed with dyscalculia. Sometimes in my work, I say/do/write things that are obvious symptoms of these disabilities but my mentor attorney acts like I’m just making lazy, stupid mistakes. Does anyone else still feel like these childhood learning disabilities are not acknowledged as a real thing by adults?
