I'm so sick of this industry. I got into Finance because I felt I had something to prove to other students around me... that I could make it. 24 y/o and I can no longer care what others think.

Yea I honestly wish I looked at other careers aside from banking. Felt like I should do Banking because it would lead to better opportunities. Now I feel stuck and have no idea what I want to do with my life.

Agreed. We all go into finance thinking "I will survive the hours, I can do better than everyone else" when instead, we should have listened to the warnings and not been so damn hard headed :/

I’m the one whose ex won’t pay for college - and I have an update. My ex texted me today that he and his wife are buying our son a car (!!) for Christmas. On the one hand, it’s one less expense for me. On the other hand, my ex won’t pay for college and he owes me at least $10K for previous medical expenses, but he can find money for a car - which is a “fun” expense that will get him brownie points with our son. Whatever - my son benefits, but talk about a “Disneyland Dad.” Ugh.

Do any of you lot worry about agism in the industry? I'm about 5yrs in and thinking about this more and more. Noticed thay most my colleagues, in mutliple agencies, were about my age with 5yrs give or take each way. Its obviously not a new industry, so either people were getting out of it by 35 or not many of them were getting hired past then. Been tellling myself ill learn to code one day to future proof but I've done fuck all so far. Anyone else planning for the future or am I being paranoid?

How do you successfully transfer B4 skills/experience to industry (how do you find the right fit?), and how do you continue to learn and build your skills so that you’re still marketable and could boomerang back if it doesn’t work out in a few years?
