I’m so tired of interviewing with companies that say - this is not a 40 hour a week company you’ll be expected to work late and be available. I’ve worked in other companies in the past where I was putting 80+ hour weeks and just not looking for that anymore and impacted my health too much. How do you find companies that actually have some sort of a work life balance? I started just setting boundaries and just started working less but feel like other people are working so much more 😅

Yes, and the manager and the team also make it look like we are supposed to work more than 40hrs. I recently spoke to my manager about career growth and he has me working on different tasks in the name of career growth. “You mentioned about career growth, so I’m going to be pulling you more and more into different projects and tasks”

Boutique firms!

Happy to work a percentage of hours above 40 as long as my salary also goes up that percentage each week :) 4 extra hours? 10% increase.

Product Design Engineer, interviewing at Apple (Cupertino) and at Meta (Seattle/Redmond). Not at the offer stage yet, but I'm contemplating where I would relocate with family.
No idea about team/culture/stability differences yet.

The non-work factors I'm debating are:
1. Cost-of-living (housing!). Could probably afford a nice ~$1.25M SFH in Seattle suburbs sooner than a fair $1.5-2M near Cupertino.
2. Public School quality. Unsure private will be affordable.
3. Weather/region: activities

Need some advice. I was asked to apply for a senior digital marketing specialist role (the lowest title I’ve applied for, looking mid-senior level). I applied and they offered me the position, but are telling me I need to start out at the regular specialist level. To me, if I interviewed for the senior title, and I can clearly do the qualifications needed since you offered me the role, I should have that title. Thoughts? Supposedly the reg. specialist role is senior in their org. structure.
