Remember that you were given the job because you’re capable and worth it.

Remember you are not your thoughts and doubt is okay, but you have gotten through each day, even in the hardest moments.

Also, CONGRATS!

Congrats! I’ll be honest, I’ve been at KPMG for less than a year and I took a LOA after a domestic violence occurrence. I was open with my manager voluntarily about my situation, as I had days I just couldn’t do it, and needed to log off early and didn’t want to lie. Completely my choice but it did make the “off days” easier

Thanks for your courageous share and for asking for what you need. I read a statistic recently that said 1 in 3 couples have engaged in physical violence. It’s a real issue that people are reluctant to share about. By shedding the light, others see they aren’t alone. 🫂

Find a therapist who does EMDR. It’s changed my life. PTSD is no joke. I’m so sorry you are suffering with that, but it can be helped!!

Day by day, I always get overwhelmed by the thought of being busy in the future but you just have to take it as it comes.

Set boundaries from the beginning and stick to them.

Write out your early signs of not feeling well. For me, I know my mental health is starting to slip when I stop wanting to txt my friends back. Then write out what you know has worked for you in the past to get to better mental health.

When I am “in it” it’s difficult for me to remember these things or my depression / anxiety tells me they are not true. Having them written out when I’m feeling good helps me stay objective.

As for work, get an accomodations ADA letter from your mental health providers. Maybe you only need to ask to sit in a dark room for 5 minutes a day, but it puts them on notice of your condition. There are other things you might want to ask for, change in lighting, being able to excuse yourself suddenly during a personal attack. But just asking for a fern puts them on notice of your medical condition and protects you.

Hi, just joined this bowl! I have an AH and things have gotten pretty serious this year. He started on and off with recovery always asking my help to try 30 days sober which I do to support but he consistently fail and avoids AA. I have been doing Al-Anon and it’s very helpful. I relate in most stories, but sometimes I feel so different from the people there (mid class religious housewife vs me an LGBT atheist consulting from CA). I now have Carrot benefits. Maybe elective egg freezing the start of next year? After some research, it looks like the Carrot funds are available only after I meet my yearly health plan deductible. I’m currently on HDHP (with an HSA) that has a high deductible and max oop is in the mid-$3K. Since I’m relatively healthy, I’m not sure if this is the right plan for me or if an EPO or PPO makes more sense. Appreciate any insight - esp from folks who’ve gone through a similar situation. Thank you!

Something that I didn't fully realise until recently is that almost everyone, regardless of industry, role or location, are showing signs of burning out. The 'new norm' is dealing with mental health issues, feeling tired, unmotivated or fed up. This helped me cope with it... I'm not alone, it's not just me... Sadly, very few team/project leads know or are willing to use empathy.

I’m considering participating in a Stanford antidepressant medication clinical trial. Obviously not interested in money but curious to try it and see if it can help with symptoms (I’m on SSRI currently). It’s not a brand new medication, it’s used currently but for other diagnoses (hypertension, ADHD). So to me it seems like a relatively low risk. Has anyone done this? What was your experience?
