I’m starting as AM in a new SSL next month & I’ve no previous experience in it. How do I act as an executive and get the respect of the trainees when they actually have more experience than I do?

I got the early promo. I will be honest admitting you are not knowing as of now but show your experience and abilities in other aspects. As a manager, it is more important to care people around you than try to do more work yourself.

I got the promotion based on the partners feedback of me in my previous department, and I’ve done a project for the partner in my new department, and I know he rates me pretty highly and is confident I can get up to AM level fairly quickly, but I’m just nervous about being an executive in a) a smaller team and b) with other executives who have so much more relevant experience

What is AM

Be honest that you don’t know anything about it and then tell them you’re here to learn from them. Then tell them the plan you have on how to grow the team or whatever other plan given to you to execute. Then reiterate it is important we continue to learn from one another for organic team growth. Hope this helps!

If your law firm has no attorneys who are female or people of color, I’m not referring cases to your firm. It’s 2020, do better. Diversity needs to stop being seen as “a nice thing to have” and it needs to be necessary to stay in business. Diverse perspectives are how law firms succeed, I want to see more firms that understand that.

How much hours do you work during busy season and non-busy season? I work 60 hrs/wk on average during non busy season on PD and admin, and 70-90 hrs during busy season. Is this normal?

First time home buyer here. I’m trying to buy by summer and in a super hot market where literal shacks are starting to climb more than half a mil. I don’t have enough upfront cash for 20% down, and lots of folks say you need an agent to represent you to make you look more serious in the buy. My question (more like a plea) is this: should I even bother and how?

So I went on Amazon to buy The Partner Track by Helen Wan since I wanted to read the book before the new Netflix tv show based on it comes out and I found another book abt a woman lawyer called Partner Track (no The) by Cat Wynn. I decided to read that first and I must say it’s really good so far! Veryyyyy *spicy* if you know what I mean. Just wanted to share!
