I'm starting to form some disdain to having insecure white women as supervisors. It's hard to boss up in my role if I always tip toe-ing around their extreme passive agressiveness... (con't)

Thank you PHD1... but there are certainly little microaggressions that I cant always get addressed as a POC in the role, which sucks. And they start to build up. The way professionalism has been defined under nonPOC, to me, is passive, sometimes petty, demeaning, and unprofessional. But I have to find ways to bob and weave around it. Its exhausting. Honestly, it's the story of our lives, I'm sure. But I figured I would mention it just in cast others felt the same way.

Also, I believe the more appropriate word I meant to use in my original post, instead of insecure, is threatened.

Document everything. Every little thing. Look for a new gig. It's rare that a woman will be coached out of this behavior. I've been through this numerous times. Really painful experience. I hate that too many women don't know how to support other women.

Obviously, not all white women are this way. But I do feel like it's hard to progress in my role.

Ugh, I am sorry first and foremost. I’m a woman and I had a terrible woman boss once that scarred me for life (almost). It took me a long time to be comfortable working for women. What I try to do now is to remind myself that A) any manager can be terrible - regardless of gender & race and B) I proactively address the situation. I communicate early & proactively and right away after any “incident” in private. In my experience, once you’re consistent about addressing it, it gets better. Hang in there, don’t let it discourage you (easier said than done, I know). And if it helps, I’ve since had a few amazing women managers (both white and WOC) so they exist!

So appreciate this conversation. I’m in the same situation. One year of terror and its wearing on me. Passive, sometimes not passive aggressive behavior. Intense scrutiny. A bad manager will be the reason I leave a good agency

*Any resources to research salary expectations are appreciated*
I’m currently expecting an offer this week for an underwriting role at a mid-sized mutual in NJ. I have 3 years mid-market commercial underwriting experience at a smaller mutual company in NJ (+ prior summer internship and insurance degree). What should I expect for salary? I’m thinking 75k? Where can I research this kind of thing?
