I have 3 years of private accounting experience and 1 year of audit experience at a regional accounting firm and passed cpa exams. I want to apply to EY for a experienced staff (audit) role but the job requirement says I need 2 years of audit experience. Should I apply when I fulfill 2 year of experience or should I just try applying now?

Pick one that you think you have the best shot for and apply. Then wait another 6 months and apply to another if the first doesn’t work out
If you go this route, maybe take into account how long each open position has been posted, as you may have better luck with a newer posting. Often, firms wait until the new hire starts to remove a posting, so you don’t want to pick the one where someone is already clearing conflicts.
I agree with A1. But would also add that if you get an interview, you should mention your interest. They might be willing to cross train you while they look to fill other positions OR might have more flexibility to give you exposure after you get hired.
Good luck!
Know anyone at the firm in the practice group you’re most interested in, or any alumni from your law school? Reach out and see if they’ll talk with you for a few minutes and see if they can give you any insight about what the team is really looking for. If you match apply to that one. If not, repeat the same for the second practice area.
