I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place. I’m 34 not happy with my earnings after being in this field since 18. I can’t seem to advance even though I’m educated and experienced. I could go back to school for nursing and do well. School would probably take 2-3 years. My goal is to have a great career and not struggle financially. Now my husband who is 46 says let’s have a baby. Going to school will delay or potentially turn into me not having the family I always wanted. I feel I have to choose.

CPA Really??!
Had a great weekend linking up with fam, went wine tasting, fine dining and all. And I love it when my six year old says she wants to be a CPA when she grows up. But do I really want her to go the CPA route? My younger sister’s a doctor, brother in law’s an engineering manager at alphabet, both grossing 600K annual Bay Area combined both dumb as hell when it comes to business/finance. Sorry maybe just hating a little bit here. Am I wrong to suggest my kid to choose tech instead?

Approved by doctor/HR to remain remote and it’s not going over well( we were told we would remain remote, which included giving up our desks, but are now being asked to come in two days). The person who seemed the most annoyed by my request is my direct boss. I found it odd because she announced she was only doing one day because she was pregnant and the director was basically like “ok”. I don’t want to put a target on my back and I do enjoy the work. BURNED OUT MOM! And sad to say it. 😔 I have a 2.5 years old boy and a 6 months old baby girl. The boy is becoming so so stubborn. I feel like his daddy and I are doing something wrong. If I end up with cold symptoms directly ahead of the interviews, what do you think is best practice in this era? I assume I should try to get in touch the day before and basically say hey I have cold symptoms do you still want me there in person? Just had a negative pregnancy test today. I’ve been on Clomid and Progesterone and the hormones are making me miserable. We’ve been trying for 2 years and have had 2 miscarriages. The thought of repeating this month after month, then hoping that we don’t go through another loss when we do manage to get pregnant feels so daunting and overwhelming right now. I don’t know how to continue to stay positive :-(

This is my first time being pregnant and I don’t have anyone around me that is or was pregnant recently. How is the first check up procedure at the OBGYN? Do they do blood work and ultrasound through the belly? Or is it a transvaginal ultrasound? Can you reject a transvaginal ultrasound? I’m excited but extremely overwhelmed and nervous by the whole procedure. Any feedback would help!

Hello! I talked with a recruiter at GAP Solutions Inc. about a Clinical Advisor position in Rockville, Maryland and asked for a range of 125-135k and I got a written message that if all goes well, they can give me 125k. Typical! Research shows the average salary as 151k and I'd like to push for closer to 140k. Do I keep my mouth shut until after the interview or do I say something now? I don't want to dissuade them but I also don't want to waste time. I make about $110k now.

I am a POC working on 2 projects at once. Both of my teams are largely comprised of POC. For one project, there is huge political pressure to deliver a program that will benefit citizens and the client started late — constantly fighting fires and asking us to do more and more work in shorter periods of time. This AM, my Partner asked to remove me from that project after I have worked several nights overtime and supporting my juniors because I didn’t respond to his message after 8pm.

Any advice for negotiation? I made the mistake of accidentally letting slip my current salary and now I’m in final rounds at Facebook and the salary that was disclosed to me by the recruiter is lower than expected and now they’re saying it’s essentially non-negotiable? I don’t have the job yet, so I didn’t ask too many questions, but I’m worried I won’t have much leverage when the time comes.
