I’m suffering from burnout and desperately trying to get some PTO in July. During ny time off what can I do to recover from burnout? What should I be thinking through? Right now, I’m too exhausted to think, but I want to have a loose game plan going into my time off, so I can avoid being pushed to the edge like this again.

Honestly, schedule some days off and half days in advance. Make it non negotiable. If someone has an issue with that, go to HR.

The best way to recover from burnout is to take a consecutive block of time to recharge, and fully unplug from email and phone during that time.

I hear you. The stress of planning a fun vacation is a lot, so don’t feel bad if it ends up being a staycation instead. You just need the time off. Maybe something low key like rent a beach house in a nice location and hang out at the beach for a week or two? Or sub in mountains or woods or time with mom or whatever will make you feel relaxed.

I took a staycation, started with small things such as being disconnected from phone/laptop. Going out in the morning to have a breakfast, then take a walk in a park in NY, wander around in places I enjoy (museums etc) and I feel much better. Don’t put pressure on yourself but at least go out daily to do one activity (walk, bike, restaurant, parks, shopping etc).

It’s been 5 weeks and I haven’t gone a day or night without crying and feeling haunted by them. I can’t eat, can’t sleep, can’t produce quality work, can’t find joy in anything I previously loved. This is the worst physical and psychological pain I’ve ever experienced.

Would you take a VP role at 4 months pregnant? I’m in house at Manager level and been offered VP at a large agency. Nice raise and obviously title will open doors. I’m not friendly with medication but I think I might have to try something for anxiety.
I have tried to manage mine for years with meditation, exercise, diet, etc. I usually do pretty well.

Sometimes it feels like I can't tell dreams vs memories apart bc my dreams are so vividly realistic but my life memories are fading/slipping due to suppression (not talking about them, not reliving them) and mostly since becoming anti-social after some PTSD events and growing up hyper independent. So my bipolar dad got declined for a mortgage because disability gets shut off in < 3 years when he turns 65. So now he wants me to co-sign for him. Between housing markets being up, my concerns over his money mgmt, and concerns over tying up my credit there’s no way I can say yes.
