Is a peloton worth it vs saving the money...?
Do you include your pension in your net worth?
I did this - worth it. If you’re super anxious maybe do 6 months instead of a year
Do it. Crush those life goals. YOLO.
Get the layoff package and walk the earth
Travel for 3 months, one new country every 3 weeks. Then you still have most of the money, but you’ll also get an amazing life experience.
I agree. There’s a middle ground somewhere that will let you recover whilst also doing some great experiences.
Do it! There’s a great big beautiful world out there… you can circle back to this crap anytime, you may even return from your travels with different priorities and not want to return to the same role anyway! That can sometimes be the best part of the journey…
Live life; it might not be there tomorrow.
Recession coming baby. I’d wait 6 months, then travel for a year

Wait just a little longer for layoff offers or packages. Sometimes they offer LOA as a way to downsize. Take them and go. Gaps in resumes are expected in recessions. I would work a bit and then travel for 6+ months between jobs when I was in my 20s. I would live as cheaply as humanly possible during the work time so I could have plenty for all the travel.
It would likely be one of the best decisions of your life. Nothing that you leave behind would compare to the eye-opening experiences you create on the road. DO IT!!!

Can do pick up a few side hustles that you enjoy and do it as a digital nomad?
I am sorry to say this but your entire attitude is the anti of FIRE. If you want to take the year and live for now now, GREAT!!! Just do not fool yourself that you have the attitude to FIRE. If you really want to FIRE, find a job where you have more passion and work your ass off.
A pause could be what’s necessary to reassess what OP’s passions are vs continuing in a toxic job that is causing burnout. I think there are responsible ways to go about a break but it’s not necessarily anti-FIRE
Could you take an LOA or sabbatical instead of quitting?
No I can’t I did that already due to health issues
Do it. Life is short🥺
I feel you. I've always played it safe too, but I love to travel. The only thing stopping me from doing what you want to do is I barely have enough saved. So I say do it. Taking yourself out of your comfort zone will challenge you to discover who you really are without the constraints of the society you live in. Who knows, you might come back with completely different priorities, or find out that you love living/working elsewhere. Life goals are just as important as career goals.
