I’m super interested in types of people who project a certain image of wealth and then are secretly in debt, or “save” money by buying cheap and poorly made items therefore confirming that the excess spending we see is just for image. Isn’t the book the opposite of what OP is asking? Its about people who don’t show that image of wealth but actually have big assets

Eh, I think this trope is overblown. Regular folks love to pat themselves on the back for not being like “those people” who live outside their means. I don’t think this is as common as people want to believe.

Go to Dallas. Probably the worst I’ve ever seen. I’m sure Miami is bad, but Dallas. The city of $30K millionaires. Oof that place is sad.

It is cheap to live in TX

On a side note, I also see these same people with duel income, perhaps one spouse is a teacher (a noble profession). I always think, if you’re so baller, why does your spouse work for an extra $50K per year and you send kids to daycare.

Yeah, my wife is a middle school teacher and college professor. There have been many years where I paid more in salary than she made.

She’s working to change the world. To mold young minds and teach new teachers how to do it too. It’s 10,000% noble cause.

Hmm I’m also interested more specifically in people who make a reasonable amount of money and spend within their means. they are cheap with things that don’t contribute to their image (ex: shoddy construction) but spring for the glam vacation. So more emphasis on their external image. Is there a term for this?

I know people like this. They aren’t into material things but will spend on experiences. Some do the other and never go anywhere.

You all must have seen the recent news in which Infosys is the butt of many jokes for bungling the Income Tax portal roll-out.

The outage is really embarrassing, since I am myself facing trouble during ITR Filing.

However, the devil is in the details. The project awarded is worth 4000 Cr (540M) but the govt. has reportedly paid a meagre 150 Cr (20M) so far.

Expecting a vendor to launch a production-level system by paying less than 5% of the project cost...

Sorry, you get what you pay for 😇

New to tax. What are some questions to ask the client related to the cares act? ie, have they taken a ppp loan and when will it be paid back…. Also how is the ppp loan treated for tax? What/when is the add back. Does it depend if they picked it up as income?
