Hey, Is global logic a good company to join?
Does anyone here work for Upwork?
Leave KPMG alone 🤣

Do you have an affinity network? I love my East Asian network colleagues for similar reasons as you mentioned. Common backgrounds and interests
I have a similar problem in my home office, but it's less of a problem now that all events are virtual. We've had 4-5 virtual network events (only 1-2 others from my office) and I talk to people I met (mostly within the last year) which has really helped. Maybe try that even if your colleagues aren't geographically close? Can't help on international aspect but ours is like 40/60 international vs born in the west.
I can relate as well 😔, there's only me and another guy that are Asian in the whole company in my city (+-1000 employees)
It's now your responsibility to recruit more Asians ;)
Didn’t find that a big problem but I worked with this dude from New Jersey once that never had asian food in his life. Was afraid of it. It was a headache ordering food because all he ate were burgers or tacos.
Just gotta keep pinging those asian buds of yours like I do :)
I’d order separately from that peasant
Sounds like you are at a small firm. If you aren’t opt to join an erg that might not be local. In pandemic locations right now are meaningless.
Ni hao
Wondering what other ppl are thinking but while I’m not saying you need to change yourself (eg pick up golf if you hate it just to socialize) you need to find ways to connect with white colleagues if you want to thrive in the US. It only gets whiter the higher up you move and if you genuinely cannot find a connection outside of business, you will always be at a disadvantage all else equal. I would urge you to find deeper commonalities or celebrate differences, otherwise if you have large ambitions you may be best suited in “Asia Asia”
Sorry for annoying you but I also think it’s an important point to make. I love my Asian heritage and connect with many others through that. But my last client was a 50 y/o Norwegian mom of 2 and I made sure to connect beyond a superficial level with her too.
If you don’t genuinely enjoy being with your white colleagues they likely feel similarly towards you; not saying this is the sole reason for a bamboo ceiling but it could be a contributing factor
I just don’t want to see my fellow Asians (esp East Asians) be disadvantaged - almost feel that south Asians connect easier to white culture. Anyway think about it and best of luck...
Op, I am Asian Asian!! Dm me and we can talk in Chinese
Ahh I miss my Asian KTV crew
